IDX-listed oil palm plantation company PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk, which is part of the Rajawali Group, is currently developing a 2.4 MW biomass power plant in Suka Damai, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan Province, Kontan reported on Monday.
The paper quoted Eagle High Finance Director Henderi Djunaidi as saying that construction is expected to be completed in 2018, and the electricity output will be sold to PLN.
He said that Eagle High is developing the power plant project, as part of diversification strategy, through subsidiary PT Suryabumi Tunggal Perkasa, teaming up with PT Nagata Bio Energi, a subsidiary of power producer PT Sumberdaya Sewatama, which is part of the Trakindo Group.
The power plant will use methane gas from palm oil mill effluent (POME) as its feedstock.
Eagle High currently operates 1 MW biomass power plant, but the electricity output is entirely dedicated for internal use at its palm oil mills. (*)
