Tens of East Java coal suppliers complained about slow unloading process in Gresik dry bulk port and demanded port operator PT. Pelindo III to take steps to overcome the problem, Bisnis Indonesia reported Wednesday.

Kody Lamahayu Fredy, spokesperson for East Java coal suppliers grouping said that the slow unloading process would affect operations of many industries that were relying on coal as fuel sources.

Infrastructure- poor Gresik port handles the unloading of 2 million tones of coal annually. Most of the coals come from East and South Kalimantan by barges.

Fredy demanded that Pelindo give flexibility to use other ports such as Tanjung Perak in Surabaya whenever Gresik is congested. (*)
