East Java Governor Imam Utomo met with the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina?s production sharing contractors operating in the province, a Pertamina spokesman told Petromindo.com Thursday.

The July 4 meeting, held at the governor?s office, was also attended by Pertamina director Iin Arifin Takhyan.

Pertamina spokesman L. Harijanto said that several contractors including BP, ExxonMobil Cepu, Santa Fe Tuban, Wirabuana, Lasmo, Premier, Kodeco-YPF Maxus, Gulf, and Exspan participated in the meeting.

The governor told the Pertamina contractors that he would ensure security in the area to allow them to operate without disruption.

But he also appealed to the contractors to help improve the economic life of the poor people living near their operation sites.

The security problem that has plagued several parts of the country has crated jitters among investors including oil and gas companies which have made huge investments.(Godang)
