East Java Paiton power unit has excess capacity: Minister

Minister of Mines and Energy Susilo B. Yudhoyono said at the weekend that the Paiton power generation unit in Probolinggo, East Java, had excess power capacity which could be distributed to other provinces.

Susilo was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying that this would need the development of interconnection between East Java and West Java, a province with large population of industries.

He said that interconnection facility was currently being developed between East Java and Kediri, and from Kediri to Klaten, in Central Java.
