East Kalimantan asks miners for re-registration

The local administration of Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan has asked all mining companies including holders of mining permits (IUPs) in the regency for re-registration.

The head of the agency?s mining office, Assobirin, said that the re-registration of the mining companies were needed to support the local government?s program to verify whether the mining operations in the region had all met the existing licensing procedures.

?For this purpose, all IUP holders are requested for re-registration in the local mining office from Dec. 27 to Jan. 27,? he said, adding the IUP holders should show a copy of the permits they received from the local government during the re-registration as well as copies of tax and royalty payments.
