East Kalimantan Governor to meet House over oil, gas bill

East Kalimantan Governor Suwarna AF is scheduled to meet with the House of Representatives commission VIII on mining and energy in Jakarta today (Monday) and tomorrow to discuss and provide input to the new oil and gas bill, the local Jaya Post daily reported.

The paper quoted East Kalimantan administration public relations officer Syafruddin as saying that the administration feels that it must give input because the province was rich with oil and gas resources.

Syafruddin said that the East Kalimantan administration wanted to make sure that it would get benefit out of the resources and to ensure that local environment would not be damaged.

The paper said that the Governor would be accompanied by provincial Council Speaker Sukardi Djarwo Putro.

The paper also said that the Governor met with the minister of mineral resources and energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro at the weekend to discuss the Kaltim Prima Coal divestment plans. (*)
