East Kalimantan miner sells coal to German trader

PT Pancaran Surya Abadi (PSA), a joint venture between Indonesian firm PT Toba Jaya and Australia mining firm Coal FE, has started coal production at its coal mine in Kutai Kartanegara recency, East Kalimantan since September this year. The initial output is 30,000-50,000 tons per month.

A Toba Jaya official told Petromindo.com on Monday that PSA will start shipping its coal this week, using two barges each with the capacity of 16,000 tons.

The coal is sold to German trader Coal Orbis A.G. ?Coal Orbis is the offtaker of our coal production,? the official said without giving details.

The company will keep maintain current production rate for next year, official added.

PSA has obtained IUP production for its mine located in the district of Muara Badak and Anggana. The concession area measures 996 Ha. Of the total concession area, 300 ha has been drilled with the remaining 696 ha still unexplored.

In March 2010, Coal Fe said analysis by Ravensgate Minerals Industry Consultants had upgraded Coal FE?s measured resource to about 27.5 million tons (MT) from 0.4 MT. Categorized resource totalled 34.5 MT, up from 27.2 MT. (denny)
