The East Kalimantan provincial House of Representatives is scheduled to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro Thursday, according to the local Kaltim Post daily.

The paper quoted Speaker of the provincial House Djarwo Putro as saying that the meeting will include discussions about the divestment plans of East Kalimantan coal giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and the US$700 million investment plans of oil and gas firm PT Unocal Indonesia.

Djarwo said that the province wanted to have part of the Unocal investment.

He did not provide further details.

The East Kalimantan councilors are in Jakarta to lobby the central government and the House to ensure that the province gets Rp 3.02 trillion from the 2001 state budget as part of oil and gas and mining revenue allocation.

Djarwo said that leaders of the House factions supported the East Kalimantan demand. (*)
