East Kalimantan Parliament to summon large companies

The East Kalimantan House of Representatives decided on Tuesday to summon huge companies operating in the province to get their commitment to contribute more to the local area, the Balikpapan-based Kaltim Post daily reported.
The paper said that among of the companies to be summoned included oil and gas firms PT Vico Indonesia, PT Total Indonesie, Unocal Indonesia and PT LNG Badak, and gold mining firm PT Kelian Equatorial Mining, an fertilizer firm PT Pupuk Kaltim.
Deputy speaker of the parliament Kasyful Anwar As'a said that there's been growing pressure from the East Kalimantan people that huge companies operating in the province should provide more to the province.
He said that the schedule of the meeting would done between July and September this year.
He said that people representing the company at the meeting should be decision makers at the company. (*)
