Thousands of high school students in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, had to be put on holiday Monday because their teachers were on strike to protest plans by the coal mining giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) to stop ?incentives? for them, the local Kaltim Post daily said.
The paper said that the teachers of the SMU Negeri I high school, believed to be the best high school in the province, had received an incentive of around Rp 750,000 per month each from KPC.
It is not yet clear why KPC would stop the incentive to the teachers.
But the paper said that the teachers would continue to hold strike until KPC agree to continue paying incentive.(*)
