The East Kutai regency administration in East Kalimantan will revoke the mining license of investors which have not yet started any mining activities at their mining sites in the area.

?Until now there are 32 mining firms which have obtained license to mine in East Kutai. But if until April 2002, they remained inactive, then I will revoke the license,? East Kutai Regent Awang Faroek Ishak.

He said that he would first summon the mining investors to know what their problems were before giving the sanction.

He said that the investors had obtained the license three to five years ago.

Awang did not name the mining firms.(*)
