East Nusa Tenggara to develop the first ocean current power plant in Indonesia

A 300 MW ocean current power plant is planned to be developed in East Nusa Tenggara province, which is seen to be the country?s first, according to a senior government official.
Adhi Wibowo, Head of Research and Development for Electricity and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, told Petromindo.com that the current power plant project will be built alongside a bridge project that would connect the Flores Island and Adonara Island in East Nusa Tenggara.
"The feasibility study for the project has been completed and currently is entering the engineering details," he said, adding that investment for this project is estimated at US$160 million.
Adhi revealed that the technology for this project will use a technology from Netherland. Tidal Bridge BV, a consortium from Netherland will be involved in this project as one of the investor, he said, but did not disclose the other investors.
