EDC eyeing Indonesian geothermal opportunities

Philippines firm Energy Development Corp. (EDC) said it has expanded into the Indonesian geothermal energy market, The Manila Times reported.

Paul Aquino, EDC president and chief executive officer, said the company has put up a representative branch in Indonesia to identify potential projects there.

He said EDC had identified four sites in Indonesia for possible preliminary geothermal exploration activities.

Under Indonesia's energy contracting scheme, companies such as EDC can venture into preliminary exploration activities for prospective sites and tender an offer for the areas' development contract, he said.(*)
