Wednesday, September 27 2000 - 04:30 AM WIB
Marketing director of state-owned electricity company PLN Eddie Widiono will become the new president of PLN power generating unit Indonesia Power, previously called the Java-Bali Network or PJB I.
According to Petromindo.com sources, the decree on the appointment of Eddie has been issued, but Eddie would be officially installed into his new position on October three together with the official launching of the company's new name.
Eddie will replace Firdaus Akmal who has been in PJB I for seven years.
Both Eddie and Firdaus declined to make confirmation.
Eddie is a loyalist of PLN president Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.
The appointment of Eddie is seen as part of Kuntoro's strategy to keep his trusted men in key position.
PJB I or Indonesia Power plans to go public next year. The company booked a Rp 240 billion (US$1= Rp 8,500) net profit last year. (R. Amoros)
