Thailand's Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) may start production from its coal mining concession in Jambi as early as 2010.

?We are now still at exploration stage. If things run smoothly, we may be able to start production in 2010,? EGAT Business Development Division officer Thanawat Keereepart told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday.

Keereepart said the mine may be able to produce 200,000 tonnes in the first year, ramping up to 1 million tonnes in the second year.

The company?s concession covers area of 26,000 hectares.

The entire production will be exported to Thailand to fuel the company?s proposed 4x700MW power plant, Keereepart said.(denny)
