Eight downstream infrastructure projects worth Rp 687.3 billion owned by state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina were inaugurated on Tuesday.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Pertamina?s LPG depot in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, presided over by Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmaja Puja, attended by Pertamina?s President Dwi Soetjipto, Pertamina said in a statement.

The six projects are the relocation and capacity upgrading of LPG depot in Tanjung Priok, the aviation fuel pipeline in Surabaya, East Java; an LNG filling station in Bontang, East Kalimantan; three Liquefied Gas for Vehicle (LGV) stations and a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station.

The Tanjung Priok LPG depot project worth Rp 440 billion involved the relocation of ten LPG storage tanks along with its filling sheds and supporting facilities and the development of a new LPG tank with a capacity of 4x2,500 MT. Thanks to the project, the storage capacity of the Tanjung Priok LPG depot has increased from 9,000 mt to 19,000 mt. The depot?s existence has thus become more crucial for the provision of LPG in West Java.

Meanwhile, the aviation fuel pipeline in Surabaya was built with an investment of Rp 106.7 billion. The pipeline stretches 35.19 km from the Surabaya Group installation in the city?s Tanjung Perak seaport to the Juanda airport. It has a delivery capacity of 200 kl per hour and is able to cut the transportation costs of the fuel by Rp 11.24 billion per year.

The development of the 26 LNG filling station in Bontang was aimed to speed up the conversion from oil fuels to gas in the province, particularly among mining companies there. Pertamina spent Rp 8 billion to build the facility. Pertamina said if the oil fuel-to-LNG conversion program runs successfully, it will allow for fuel savings amounting US$770 million and foreign exchange saving worth $2.5 billion per year.

The three LGV stations inaugurated on Tuesday are located in Solo Baru, Central Java; in Margonda Depok, West Java; and Bogor, West Java. The Solo Baru and Margonda stations are owned and operated by Pertamina (COCO = Corporate Owned, Corporate Operated), while the Bogor station is owned and operated by third party (DODO = Dealer Owned, Dealer Operated). Each of the stations has the capacity of 6 mt with a dispenser capacity of 40-100 liters per minute. Including the Rp 4.7 billion new stations, there are now 21 gas stations in the country which provides LGV.

Meanwhile, two online COCO CNG stations have been built in Cililitan and Pullogadung, East Jakarta with a total investment of Rp 127.9 billion to support the oil fuel-to-gas conversion program. Each of the CNG stations have a capacity of 1 mmscfd or 30,000 liters of Premium gasoline equivalent.
