The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that construction of eight solar power plants with total capacity of 145 kW in Kerom Regency, Papua Province, has been recently completed.

Bisnis Indonesia quoted Director General of New and Renewable Energy at the ministry Rida Mulyana as saying the completion of the power plant projects will allow eight villages in Kerom to enjoy power supply for 24 hours a day.

The eight solar power plant projects in Kerom were financed by the state budget via the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Rida said that the ministry last year completed 17 solar power plants with combined capacity of 385 kWp in six regencies in Papua Province.

He added that construction progress of four other solar power plants in two other Papua regencies including three in Pegunungan Bintang and one in Jayawijaya has currently reached 95 percent. (*)
