Electricity price to be increased

The government is expected to soon increase electricity price produced by power plants fueled by renewable sources of energy such as solar, win, and biomass in a bid to help accelerate investment in the renewable energy sector, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.
The paper quoted Director General of New and Renewable Energy Rida Mulyana as saying that Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said will issue three new regulations in August to facilitate the increase in the selling price of electricity from the renewable-based plants to state utility PT PLN.
He said that planned new policy is expected to help the government achieve its 2025 target where renewable is projected to account for 25 percent of the country?s energy mix.
Rida added that Vice President Jusuf Kalla wants renewable-based power plants to account for 25 percent of the government?s plan to build a combined 35,000 MW plants until 2019. (*)
