Electrification ratio expected to rise to 90.15% by year-end

The government expected electrification ratio in the country to increase to 90.15 percent by the end of this year, according to a senior official

?As per the first semester of this year, the electrification ration reached 88.99 percent,? said Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jarman (one name) on Monday.

He said that construction of additional transmission lines until the end of this year is estimated to reach 8,825 kms. Per end of August of this year, some 2,036 kms (or 23 percent) have been certified for operation.

Regarding the government?s five-year program to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plant projects until 2019, he said that 164 MW (1%) have reached commercial operation. Meanwhile, another 8,687 MW (24%) have signed construction contract, 8,641 MW (24%) have yet to sign contract, 10,481 MW (29%) have entered procurement process, and another 7,654 MW (22%) still under planning stage.

?In the period of September to December, some 14,069 MW of the power plant projects are expected to sign power purchase agreement,? Jarman said, adding that about 4,064 of the projects will be developed by PLN and 10,005 MW by independent power producers.
