Elnusa, CGGVeritas launch seismic vessel

IDX-listed oil and gas services company PT Elnusa Tbk and its partner CGG Veritas, a France-based multinational seismic service, launched on Sunday their seismic vessel in response to the growing need of marine seismic survey in the Asia and Pacific region, particularly Indonesia.

The two companies have set up a joint venture to operate the vessel named Elnusa Finder.

?Elnusa is intensively developing its strength in marine seismic service in line with the need of on-shore and deep-sea exploration of oil and gas reserves,? Elnusa president director Suharyanto said.

?We grabbed the chance to win potential local and regional markets, setting a target of obtaining US$55 million in 2011-2012.?

The joint venture is part of the long-term business plan as Elnusa is focusing on integrated oil and gas service. Elnusa?s strength in marine seismic geoscience has been proved in the skills and availability of seismic vessel, which is set to operate at the end of Q2 this year.

Before operating in Indonesia the vessel will operate in Vietnam waters.

The vessel is ideal for 2D and 3D seismic survey projects, using up to 4 streamers and 4 tugs which enable it to conduct geometric acquisition. The vessel has 2 streamer winches with a length of 12,500 meters.

The vessel runs on 2 diesel-fired Controlled Pitch Propulsion (CPP) which enables it to control its speed that will facilitate its seismic acquisition job. Its fuel capacity will allow the vessel to remain in the sea for 4-5 weeks without refueling. (romel)
