Elnusa, through its subsidiary PT EWS Oilfield Services, has officially launched the operation of its newly built integrated workover barge at the Meranti Kariangau shipping yard in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
The barge, called Elnusa Samudra 2, would be used to provide maintenance services including snubbing, coiled tubing, wireline and cementing works at the oil fields operated by Total E&P Indonesia in East Kalimantan.
"PT EWS secured the contract to carry out snubbing works at Total's oil fields through a tender. Under the contract worth about US$15 million, EWS will carry out snubbing works for three years," EWS's president director Islam K. Djafar was quoted by Investor Daily as saying.
He said that the specially designed ship Elnusa Samudra 2 was built by the company with total cost of about US$4 million in order to fulfill the contract to carry out the snubbing works at Totals' oil fields. (*)
