Elnusa to drill 2 exploration wells in C. Kalimantan block

IDX-listed services company PT.Elnusa said it would start drilling Jupoi-1 exploration well in Bangkanai PSC onshore Central Kalimantan in the first quarter of next year.

CEO Eteng A. Salam told reporters on Wednesday that Elnusa is currently tendering for rig.

Eteng said that Jupoi-1 was part of the two exploration wells planned to be drilled at the block next year.

Eteng added that Elnusa will also conduct 500km 2D seismic on the block.

Eteng said that talks with state electricity firm PLN to sell 20MMCFD of gas from Karendan gas field within Bangkanai PSC are ongoing.

Karendan gas field, which was discovered in 1982, is estimated to contain about 40 billion cubic feet (BCF) of proven gas reserves. The gas reserves are potentially to be increased up to 190 BCF.

Elnusa is the operator of Bangkanai block with 50.01 percent working interest.(denny)
