PT Elnusa Petro Teknik (EPT), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company Pertamina, has won a contract to handle maintenance works of the Arco I oil refinery and turbine gas project in the Java Sea, according to the company's vice president Soedjanto.
He said that the company won the tender to carry out the maintenance works for three years beginning in May, early this year. But he was reluctant to disclose the value of the contract.
Soedjanto said besides the Arco I, the company was also participating in the tender held by Maxus to carry the maintenance job of the company's an offshore oil refinery, and the tender for the procurement of materials and equipment for Arco II project.
He said at present the company handled all the maintenance works of its parent company Pertamina's seven oil refineries through a direct appointment." But we are ready to compete with other companies, if Pertamina holds an open bidding for the jobs," he was quoted as saying by Satunet.
He said he was sure Elnusa would win the tender, because the company's maintenance would be more competitive and three times cheaper than those offered by foreign companies. "Foreign companies could be more efficient, but their services would be very costly," he added.
Soedjanto said that Elnusa were also participated in the tender to handle the maintenance works of oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq. The winners of the tenders would be announced within the next three or six months, he added. (*)
