ElQuator plans power plant projects in N. Sumatra

Denmark?s ElQuator Co Ltd unveiled on Tuesday plans to develop two power plant projects in North Sumatra during a meeting with provincial administration officials.

The North Sumatra administration said in a statement that ElQuator has proposed to develop the power plants using what the company claimed as its latest environmental-friendly technology combining energy from sources including solar, hydro, wind, and steam in one unit. The company also promised the electricity output will be cheaper.

ElQuator plans to develop the power plants, each with capacity of 10 MW, in Stabat (the capital of Langkat Regency), and in the Medan Industry Zone.

ElQuator CEO, Hendrik Pryter said his company will finance the projects, but needs the support of the local government in terms of permitting process and provision of the required land preferably near river. No further details of the planned projects were provided.
