Embalut power plant in E. Kalimantan suspended for repair work

The Mahakam power system of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, which serves customers in East and North Kalimantan, may loss 22 MW of power capacity after the 25 MW first unit of the Embalut coal-fired power plant was temporarily shut down for two-day repair starting Thursday midnight.
General Manager of PLN East Kalimantan office, Tohari Ahdiat was quoted by antarakaltim.com as saying that the first unit of the Embalut power plant, owned by PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim, in Embalut, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, has to undergo repair and maintenance for its cleaning condenser facility.
The report said that PLN has activated the 60 MW PLTU Senipah peaking gas-fired power plant following the suspension of the Embalut power plant. Nevertheless, the company said that consumers in the region must be prepared for possible brownouts. (*)
