Upgrading capacity of Embalut coal-fired power plant to 95 MW in Kutai Kartanegara needs 380,000 of coal supply a year.

"The power plant requires 4,000 tons of coal for each MW of generated electricity. The coal supplier of the power plant is PLN Batubara," Head Division PLN Batubara Helmi Najamuddin told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

The upgrading project in the power plant with current capacity of 2x22.5 MW is handled by PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim (CFK). The commercial operation is expected to start in 2015. Embalut will supply the electricity to PLN which has signed power purchase agreement with CFK in 2012.
