Emerson honored with Gold Award for excellent performance in supplying Belanak offshore oil and natural gas production facility in Indonesia.
Orrville, Ohio (November 5, 2003) -- Emerson Process Management has received the Belanak Gold Award for Delivering Supplier Excellence in support of the Belanak large-scale offshore oil and natural gas drilling project currently in development in Indonesia. The award recognizes excellent performance, under the Belanak Supplier Quality Initiative (BSQI), for supplying Rosemount Analytical gas analyzer transmitters and Rosemount? flow, pressure and temperature transmitters, together with sensors, T-Wells and manifolds.
The Belanak project, which is funded by integrated energy company Conoco, will consist of two unmanned wellhead platforms and a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) ship with a more than one million barrel capacity. Emerson supplied two CAT 100 Continuous Gas Analyzer Transmitters to provide Belanak with precise, continuous gas measurements in the FPSO gas processing plant. In addition, Emerson supplied all of the field measurement devices, painted to specifications, on time or ahead of schedule.
The Rosemount Analytical CAT 100s are used to measure 0- to 5-percent oxygen content in the processing plant's contaminated inert gas (IG) header and clean IG header. Oxygen levels within the IG generator are maintained through a fuel/air ratio injected into the IG generator combustion mechanism. The precise monitoring of these fluctuating oxygen levels by the CAT 100s is vital as elevated levels could lead to catastrophic consequences. To protect the CAT transmitters from harsh outside environmental factors, the units are fitted with three-sided analyzer shelters.
"The Belanak project is a major undertaking in the seas of Indonesia, bringing numerous suppliers together to develop energy sources in the region," says John Everhart, president of Rosemount Analytical. "Emerson is proud to be involved in the project, and delighted to be named a Gold Award winner for supplier excellence."
The BSQI program is designed to provide objective measurement of supplier performance to honor those suppliers that work towards the consensual goals of delivering project expectations. The program is aimed at continuous improvement in supplier quality, schedule, cost, technological superiority and Health Safety Environment (HSE) issues to ensure that new oil and gas reserves can be developed economically.
The Belanak oil and natural gas drilling operation is located approximately 125 miles (200 kilometers) northeast of Singapore in Conoco-operated South Natuna Sea Block B in Indonesian waters. The project will deliver natural gas and oil to the growing energy markets in Southeast Asia, and is scheduled to be completed and ready for production by late 2004. (*)
