US firm Emerson Process Management said on Tuesday it will install its Ovation? expert control system at a new 660-MW, supercritical power plant in Adipala, near the south shore of Cilacap in Central Java.
The Emerson technology will help the plant operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, it said.
Expected to be commissioned in February 2013, Adipala is the first supercritical plant to be built by China National Technical Import and Export Corporation.
Ovation technology will monitor and control the plant's Babcock & Wilcox Beijing boiler and Shanghai Electric Corporation turbine for improved plant stability, responsiveness and thermal efficiencies; tighter overall control of plant operations; and a clearer view of key plant and turbine parameters.
The Ovation system, which will manage approximately 11,000 I/O points, will also perform data acquisition and manage the plant's modulating control system, sequence control system, furnace safety supervisory system, feedwater turbine control system and electrical control system, as well as the supervisory and plant management system.
Emerson will supply a total of 19 Ovation controllers, nine workstations and its EDS enterprise visualization technology.
