State-owned PT Energy Management Indonesia (EMI) has allocated Rp 1.75 trillion funds to finance the construction of solar power plants with total capacity of up to 50 MW in a number of areas until 2018, Kontan reported on Thursday.
EMI Acting Director Aris Yunanto said that the company was set to participate in 2015 tender for the construction of solar power plants.
He said that the company plans to first develop a 10 MW solar power plant project in Bangka Belitung with total investment estimated at Rp 350 billion.
Much of the funds will be used to import solar panels from Canada-based Mantra Solar.
Aris said that EMI has talked with Mantra Solar for the possibility of jointly developing a solar panel manufacturing unit in Indonesia. (*)
