EMP interested to acquire Exxon assets in Aceh

PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (EMP) said that it was interested in acquiring NSO and Arun Satelit fields offered by ExxonMobil in Nangroe Aceh Darusalam province and it had opened the data room of the assets.

"We?re interested in the assets, but we?re still in a preliminary step of acquiring them,? PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk Chief Investor Relations, Herwin W.Hidayat, told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that his company had decided to join the bidding for the assets although it had to compete with other big companies that are also interested in the assets.

A reliable source told Petromindo.com that EMP was pessimistic to be able to acquire the assets considering that there were other big competitors that were considered to have bigger chance of acquiring the assets. ?The competitors include Mandiri oil, and Intera Arun Energi which is owned by former workers of Exxon. All are big competitors," he added.
