EMP Malacca begins gas supply to PLTMG Melibur

Energi Mega Persada (EMP) Malacca Strait has begun to provide gas supply for the operation of PLTMG Melibur mini gas fired power plant in Meranti island, Riau province, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

SA Bagus C Kartika, the general manager of EMP Malacca Strait, said that the company started the gas supply to the mini gas fired power plant in November 11. The power plant, which has capacity of 1 megawatt, is owned and operated by state owned electricity company PLN.

Under the gas purchase agreement signed by EMP Malacca Strait and PLN in July, the PLTMG Melibur power plant would in the first year receive gas supply of about 0.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd). The gas supply will be increased to 0.2 mmscfd in the second year, and to 0.3 mmscfd in the third to fifth years and to 0.4 mmscfd in the sixth years.
