JSX-listed oil and gas firm PT.Energi Mega Persada (EMP) expects gas production from its three fields in Kangean PSC offshore East Java to come onstream in 2010.
In February 2007, EMP said that the shortage of rigs would force it to delay production from its Terang Sirasun Batur development fields of the Kangean PSC in
The company’s VP Capital Markets Herwin Wahyu Hidayat was quoted by Media Indonesia as saying that the Terang Sirasun and Batur fields would be able to produce 300MMCFD. Gas from the fields would be sold to customers in East Java.
According to Herwin the block has remaining reserves of 1.5TCF.
EMP is developing the Kangean block in two phases, which is aimed to bring two other gas production fields. The first phase is for Terang field, while the second is for Sirasun, Batur fields.
Currently, said Herwin, Kangean produces 60MMCFD of gas from its maturing field . The block has also restarted oil production from its Sepanjang field this month and is currently producing at the rate of 3,500BPD.
EMP has 50 percent indirect interest in Kangean PSC with Japex and Mitsubishi holding the balance. (*)
