EMP shuts oil production from Kangean PSC

Thursday, April 12 2007 - 05:00 AM WIB

JSX-listed oil and gas company PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (EMP) said that it has stopped oil production from its Sepanjang oil field in Kangean PSC, East Java due to technical problems at its Floating Storage Offshore (FSO) unit.

?Technical problems at the FSO prevented the second lifting from taking place which has led to crude inventory in the FSO reaching capacity and hence the need for field production shut in,? EMP said in release statement on Thursday.

EMP is now working with the FSO operator to rectify the problem and initial expectations are that FSO operations will take several weeks to recommence the operation of FSO unit.

EMP owns 100 percent working interest in the Kangean PSC.(denny)
