In a presentation held recently, EMP disclosed that the development of the Terang field will involve drilling five gas wells, which will be started in mid 2005, in a bid to produce around 300 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The Kangean block, which is located offshore East Java, covers the Pagerungan gas field, Terang Sirasun and Batur fields. The Pagerungan field is currently producing 110 million cubic feet of gas per day and 1,000 barrels of condensate per day.
EMP is the operator of the PSC with 100 percent interest.
EMP is developing the Kangean block in two phases, which is aimed to bring two other gas production fields. The first phase for Terang field, while the second for Sirasun Batur fields.
Engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPIC) for development of the Terang field will be executed in the fourth quarter of 2005, or in a time when the company secured an agreement to sell gas from the field.
EMP is also scheduled to execute the EPIC contract for development of Sirasun Batur fields in the beginning of 2008, while production from these fields are expected to be commenced in the end of 2009.
Consultancy firm DeGolyer MacNaughton certified in April 1995 that proved (1P) gas reserves in Pagerungan field was estimated at 1.45 TCF, while Terang Sirasun and Batur fields, which are yet to be developed, had combined proven reserves of 1.26 TCF. (Robert)
