Some 2,000 employees of the sub contractors of oil and gas firm PT Vico Indonesia in Muara Badak, in East Kalimantan province, resumed protest at the weekend.
"The uncertainty in the settlement of the labor dispute at Vico has created uneasiness among the employees," said Indra, an executive of the SBSI labor union Muara Badak branch.
The protesting employees are grouped in the labor union.
The employees started their protest early in August demanding among other things a higher salary.
On August 10, the employees clashed with local security officers.
Vico, SBSI and the local administration tries to resolve the problem.
But Indra said that negotiation over the past couple months had been fruitless.
Indra said that the rally by the employees would be held peacefully without having to blockade Vico activity or vandalizing facility. (R. Amoros)
