Employees of KPC supplier hold strike

Around 75 employees of PT Liebherr, the supplier of heavy equipments of coal mining giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), had held a strike for 12 days demanding a better salary, the local Kaltim Post daily reported on Friday.

The paper said that the strike was organized by the SBSI labor union. The protesters said that they needed a higher salary because prices of basic commodities in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, had increased.

The paper said that the strike affected KPC's mining operation.

The paper also said that employees of other companies in Sangatta had also launched a strike demanding better salary.(*)
