Employees of Newmont Nusa Tenggara catering firm stage protest

Some 40-60 employees of the catering company of copper and gold mining firm PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara, PT Prasmindo Boga Utama have staged a demonstration since Wednesday, according to Newmont public relations research analyst Irina Utami Dewi.
Irina told Petromindo.com through phone in response to a query that the protesting employees were grouped in the SBSI labor union.
Irina didn't provide details.
Employees linked to the SBSI labor union have also staged a protest at East Kalimantan coal giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), and oil and gas firm PT Vico. The protesting employees at KPC have blockaded the company's production facilities which caused serious disruption to production process.
Sources also said that a grouped of employees linked to SBSI were planning to stage protest in oil and gas firms and mining companies operating in the Papua province. (--Alex Ginting, R. Amoros--)
