EMS unit to form RI joint venture

Oilfield Services & Supplies Pte Ltd (OSSPL), 60 percent owned by Singapore?s EMS Energy Limited, has entered into an agreement with PT Expertest Kaliper Nusantara Expert and Ernie Ng to form a joint venture in Indonesia.

The venture will be called PT Oilfield Services & Supplies (OSS) with an initial paid up capital of S$800,000. OSSPL will take a 30 percent shareholding in OSS, while Expertest and Ernie shall take 45 percent and 25 percent, according to company statement.

The joint venture establishment came on the back of increasing drilling activity in Indonesia, EMS has noted, due to the recent increase in oil prices, and there are opportunities for OSSPL to gain a foothold in servicing and capturing the repair market with current and potential customers in the Indonesian market.

Expertest is an Indonesian manufacturer of artificial pump assembly and services and has major customers which are mainly independent oil drilling companies. Ernie meanwhile is a Singaporean businessman and owns an engineering company in Singapore which services wireline activities.

OSS shall set up a workshop in Indonesia to service the Group?s existing customers Halliburton Inc, Schlumberger and Baker Hughes in their Indonesia operations, as well as to service other new Indonesia customers.
