South Kalimantan coal miner PT Energi Batubara Lestari (EBL), a coal unit of Hasnur Group, will only produce 1 million tons of coal this year lower than the initial target of 1.5 million tons due to unfavorable weather in the mine, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com on Thursday.
?Our production will not achieve 1.5 million tons. But for next year we surely increase our production to around 3 million tons,? the official said.
The company is still negotiating to terminate its current mining contractor SERVO as it plans to develop its mine by itself, the official added.
In March, EBL has been named one of the winners to supply low CV coal under a 20-year contract to state owned electricity firm power plants built under PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's 10,000 MW crash program.
EBL mine has a concession of 2,000 hectares in Tapin regency. The mines produce coal with gross CV ranging from 5,300-5,500 kcal/kg (ADB). (denny)
