Energi Kaltim Persada sees coal production unchanged in 2010

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Energi Kaltim Persada (EKP) sees its 2010 coal production at 1.5 million tonnes, unchanged compared to this year?s production plan.

Director Business Development & Compliance Aulia Setiadi said currently coal production comes from its mine in Berau regency which is run by its subsidiary PT Berau Bara Energi (BBE).

The mine, he said, started production since mid-2008 with more than 90 percent output exported to South Korea. The mine produces coal with CV of 5,400 kcal/kg (AR).

BBE transports its coal production through 25km haul roadto Sungai Segah jetty port which can serve barges with the size of up to 270 feet.

EKP owns two more coal concessions in Berau (PT Kubang Energi Pratama dan PT Citra Global Artha) and one in Tarakan regency (PT. Sarana Energi Persada), he said on a sideline of McCloskey Asia Pacific Conference 2009 in Bali

The three mines would start production in 2011 with combined initial output of 1 million tonnes per annum, he said.

The mine in Tarakan which will produce coal with CV of 4,400 kcal/kg (AR), will be expected to supply domestic market users such as state electricity firm PLN. (denny)
