Oil and gas company PT Energi Mega Persada (EMP) has yet to obtain permission from upstream oil and gas regulator BP Migas to develop the Rancak oil and gas field in East Java, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Monday.
The paper said that the delay in the issuance of the permit has forced EMP to also delay the delivery of gas to state-owned gas distribution company PGN to October from the initial schedule of July.
EMP, was initially expected to be able to deliver supply some 30 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) of gas to PGN's East Java unit, PGN general manager for East Java Trijono said. PGN will later supply the gas to industrial customers in the region.
PGN East Java unit has been facing shortage of 50 MMSCFD for several months to meet the demand from its 200 industrial customers.
Rancak field is located in the Kangean PSC. (*)
