Energy International to build more power plants in W. Nusa Tenggara

Energy International Pty Ltd will invest in power plants in West Nusa Tenggara to help overcome power shortages in the province, a spokesman said, as reported by Asia Pulse recently.

Speaking to the press recently, Lalu Agus Wirawan said Energy International had long wished to cooperate with the local government, particularly state electricity company PLN in developing power plants in the province.

"If PLN is ready to cooperate, and Energy International can sell electrical power at affordable prices, we may soon invest in the electricity sector," he said.

He asked PLN to be more transparent in calculating the selling prices of electrical power.

"If PLN is willing to calculate the selling prices of electricity transparently, that would be good," he said.

The province's power consumption grows by 7 per cent to 10 per cent annually.

Energy International has so far built power plants in Bintan Island, Riau Province, and Tarakan, East Kalimantan Province. (*)
