Energy Minister to inaugurate Jeneponto power plant

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik is scheduled to inaugurate the operation of PLTU Jeneponto coal-fired power plant in Punagaya village, Jeneponto, South Sulawesi on Wednesday, Investor Daily reported on Monday.

Erwin Aksa, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bosowa Group, which owns the power plant, said Chinese ambassador to Indonesia Liu Jianchao was also expected to attend the ceremony for the inauguration of PLTU Jeneponto, which has capacity of 2 x 125 megawatt.

The power plant will be operated by PT PT Bosowa Energy, joint venture between Bosowa and PT Sumberenergi Sakti Prima (SSP). The company spent as much as $250 million for the costruction for the first stage of PLTU Jeneponto power plant.

Erwin said the construction of the power plant was completed six months ahead of the initial schedule. The construction was previously estimated to last for 30 months. (*)
