Engineering design of Bawen-Yogyakarta told road project approved

The Central Java and Yogyakarta provincial administrations have approved the detailed engineering design (DED) of a planned toll road project linking Bawen (in Central Java) and Yogyakarta.
This was said by Secretary of the Yogyakarta administration, Gatot Saptadi as quoted by Antara on Thursday. He said that the 71-km toll road project will be developed by the central government.
It remains unclear, however, as to when construction of the toll road project will start. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo was quoted as saying previously that ground-breaking of the project was expected this year after the local administrations approve the DED of the project. Construction process is expected to be completed in two years.
Elsewhere, Gatot said that the DED for two other toll road sections, namely Yogyakarta-Solo, and Yogyakarta-Cilacap have yet to be approved by the local administrations. (*)
