Italian firm Eni SpA. has completed a 314 sq km onshore/offshore 3D seismic survey at its Arguni I PSC in West Papua.

?Eni completed the 3D seismic survey in Arguni I block last week,? an industry source told Petromindo.com.

The company is currently evaluating data obtained from the survey, according to the source.

The seismic survey and data processing are conducted by PT BGP Indonesia, a subsidiary of Chinese survey and geophysical services firm BGP-CNPC.

Once the result of 3D seismic data has been evaluated, Eni plans to drill two exploration wells.

The Arguni I block covers an area of 5,386 square km in the Bintuni Basin, a mainly gas prone, prolific hydrocarbon province, with several giant gas discoveries already in production. Eni was awarded a 100 percent interest in the Arguni I PSC in November 2011. The block is 10 km east of the Tangguh LNG processing facility. Under the contract, the firm has to acquire 2D and 3D seismic and drill two wells during the first 3 years of exploration.
