Italian national oil firm Eni SpA has completed drilling one exploration well in deepwater Bukat PSC offshore East Kalimantan and is now proceeding to drill the second, a BPMIGAS official said on Wednesday.

BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman-Operations Dodi Hidayat told Petromindo. Com that Eni had completed drilling of Tulip well, with hydrocarbon show. The well was temporarily plugged and abandoned and would be tested later, he said.

The second well-called Aster-4- is currently being drilled and has reached the depth of 6,200 feet from the total planned depth of 12,100 feet, he said.

Eni is carrying out 4-5 well drilling campaign in Bukat since late last year and would spend in excess of US$220 million for the exploration, Dodi said in October 30, 2006 interview. The wells drilled are located in 2,900 feet-depth of water, he said.

Eni has 100 percent working interest in the block after acquiring 45 percent of Chevron Corp.?s interest in early 2006.

The block?s partnership had earlier drilled 3 exploratory wells in the block, which indicated hydrocarbon shows. (godang)
