Eni may have discovered gas in Aceh

Italian oil firm Eni SpA had completed its drilling campaign in its Krueng Mane PSC offshore Aceh with one well showed gas indication, an official at upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said.

Exploration Division Head Bob Yulian told Petromindo.Com that Eni drilled two exploration wells in the block starting late last year.

The first well Emerald-1 was a dry well and the second called BSN-1 has gas indication, he said.

Another BPMIGAS senior official said that the BSN-1 well was not yet tested.

Krueng Mane exploration block, which was signed in September 1999, is located approximately 50 km north of the Arun LNG plant. ENI has currently 100 percent interest in the block.

Krueng Mane block has proven undeveloped reserves of 183 billion cubic feet within the JAU Field and exploration potential of at least 4.5 trillion cubic feet reserves in the three main prospects (BSN, Safir & Emerald). (godang/bernard)
