Eni, Pertamina team up to tap upstream opportunities

Italian oil firm Eni SpA announced Wednesday that it had signed and MoU with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero), aiming at establishing a closer relationship between the two oil companies and identifying new opportunities for exploration and development of oil & gas resources both in Indonesia and overseas.

The agreement also foresees sharing of technical know-how and the provision of training for Indonesian resources, according to Eni.

In accordance with the MoU, joint work groups have been set up to identify specific projects of co-operation between the two companies.

Eni is present in Indonesia in the upstream activity in ten permits, five of which operated. The offshore activities are located in the deep waters of the Tarakan and Kutei Basins and north of Sumatra Island. Eni is presently undertaking an extensive exploration and appraisal campaign in the Tarakan Basin in order to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential.

Other activities are in the Mahakam River delta, in East Kalimantan, where Eni has an equity production of 23,000 BOED.(alex)
