ENI plans 3D seismic survey in September

Italian oil and gas giant ENI Spa is ready to explore Arguni I block in West Papua.

It plans an airborne gravity survey at the end of July and acquisition of 3D seismic over a stretch of 200 km in September 2012.

ENI Indonesia Ltd Managing Director Carlo Vito Russo briefed West Papua governor Abraham Oktovianus Atururi about the plan when they met last week, said a media statement. Attending the meeting included representative of BPMIGAS for Papua and Maluku region, Yoseph R. Karundeng.

Yoseph said BPMIGAS expected support from regional government and stakeholders to ensure realization of the plan. ?We hope the exploration to find oil and gas reserves of huge economic value,? he said.

Abraham hailed and pledged support for the upstream oil and gas industry in the province. He said the province was open to business players, particularly in the oil and gas sector. ?Although quite a new province, we have enjoyed revenues from oil and gas production sharing,? he said.

Arguni 1 block is located between Bintuni Bay and Fak Fak regencies.
