Tender announcement posted by the company on Friday shows that Eni plans 6-month drilling program starting October or December this year.
Achmad Luthfi, BPMIGAS deputy chairman in charge of planning said that the number of wells to be drilled have yet to be determined, pending the availability of deepwater rig. Eni?s earlier announcement said it wanted to drill up to 5 wells in Bukat.
US drilling company Transocean on April announced it had secured 6-month drilling contract for its semi-submersible rig Transocean Legend for drilling operations offshore Indonesia for Eni.
Eni is the operator and 55 percent interest holder of Bukat block with Chevron holds the remaining balance.
The block lies near the disputed Ambalat block, which is being disputed by Indonesia and Malaysia.
The block?s partnership had earlier drilled 3 exploratory wells in the block, which indicated hydrocarbon shows.(alex)
